Doesn’t seem right

This game has been my introduction to Five-Up dominoes, but new as I am, I’m pretty sure it’s making mistakes. Frequently the game makes a playing sound, one of the computer player’s bones disappears, but nothing changes on the playing surface. Sometimes the computer pulls tiles from the boneyard when it doesn’t have a play but doesn’t make a play after it has stopped pulling… the board stays the same.

Especially weird, the in-game rules say “the first bone is played by the player with the highest double”. The Wikipedia article linked from the game says “highest double or highest-value domino” which is ambiguous… what does “highest value” mean? Nevertheless the game has improperly taken the first play, playing a 5-5 first when I had a 6-6 (is 5-5 a higher value?) but in another round playing a 6-6 first when I had a 5-5 in my set.

In its defense the game has a good interface - easy to play - and looks pretty good on a Retina display. But it’s not playing by the rules.
